Austrian and Central European Program
The Europe Center's Austrian and Central European Program seeks to advance relations between the United States and Austria and Central Europe. This program brings together students and faculty from Stanford University and universities in Austria and Central Europe to broaden understanding and research.
Annual Distinguished Visiting Austrian Chair Professorship
Through the Austrian and Central European Program, The Europe Center and the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies host the annual Distinguished Visiting Austrian Chair Professor at Stanford University. The Distinguished Chair Professorship is open to Austrian faculty in all fields represented by Stanford University's seven schools, with special emphasis on the Social Sciences, Humanities, and Law. Candidates are nominated and then awarded the Chair by the University of Vienna after a formal review by The Europe Center. The Europe Center and the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies facilitate the Chair's teaching appointment in the appropriate Stanford school or department. The Chair is given a formal visiting professor appointment at both the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies as well as at the Stanford academic department or school where they will be teaching.

Past and current Chair Professorships have been affiliated at Stanford in a wide range of schools and departments including the School of Law, German Studies, Philosophy, Comparative Literature, Music, and Sociology.
Austria Visitor Program
The Austrian and Central European Program, through its Austria Visitor Program offers the opportunity for a limited number of travel grants to advanced graduate students interested in conducting research at an Austrian or Central European institution of higher learning, affiliated scholarly libraries and archives.
