Eurozilla? Europe’s Spectre in the US Presidential Election Campaign
Eurozilla? Europe’s Spectre in the US Presidential Election Campaign
This essay is about the general perception of Europe during the 2011-12 US presidential
election campaign, including the competing Republicans and the acting president. It tries to
identify some patterns of the portrait of Europe depicted in the current US public debate by
collecting some of the most important judgments given in the framework of this and partly in the previous campaign for US presidency. In order to cover a more comprehensive dimension of the issue, it covers not only what the candidates who are still in the race say but also the arch of the whole campaign.
